Is Larksail free?
Yes. Saving, collections, spaces, suspending, the archive, undo, snapshots, Declutter, the Library, notes with boards and tables, and every import and export are free, with no limits on collections, saved tabs or notes. Larksail Pro (coming) adds sync between your devices, readable copies of new pages and search inside them, the AI assistant and a few power features — the ones marked Pro on this page. Nothing free will ever get a cap.
Where is my data stored?
In your browser, on your computer. There is no account, and Larksail only goes online for features you turn on yourself, like AI with a provider you pick (or one running on your own computer). Uninstalling Larksail removes its data; backups you exported stay yours.
Can I take notes in Larksail?
Yes — a Notes page with a block editor: headings, checklists, tables, toggles, callouts and kanban boards, with [[links]] between notes and to your saved pages. Notes are in your backups, and you can export them all as Markdown (Obsidian opens the folder as a vault) or import yours.
Will Larksail sync between my computers?
Sync is coming with Larksail Pro, end-to-end encrypted: your collections, tabs and notes are locked on your device before they leave it, so not even we can read them. Until then everything stays on the computer it’s on — with automatic backups if you want a copy.
Will auto-archive close tabs I still need?
Auto-archive is off until you turn it on, and you choose how long a tab must sit unused (a week by default). Pinned, playing and grouped tabs are protected, time away from the computer doesn’t count, and every archived tab is one click from coming back.
How is Larksail different from OneTab, Toby, Raindrop or Notion?
Those tools each do one part: save tabs, keep bookmarks, or hold notes. Larksail does the three together — your tabs, a library of everything you saved, and notes linked to it — adds an archive of every closed tab and an undo for every automatic action, and keeps it all on your computer with no limits.
Which browsers does it work in?
Chrome, Firefox (140 or newer), Edge, Brave, Arc, Vivaldi, Opera and other Chromium browsers.
Can I bring my tabs from another tool?
Yes: Toby, OneTab, Session Buddy, Workona, Tab Session Manager, Pocket, Instapaper, Omnivore, Readwise Reader, Raindrop, Pinboard, any browser’s bookmarks, and plain lists of links. Notes, tags and save dates come along.
Why does it ask for access to all sites?
It doesn’t, at first. Larksail installs with no site access. If you turn on in-page undo notifications, saved copies or Focus mode, it asks then, and explains why. Saved copies read a page only when you save it, and keep the copy on your computer.
Does Larksail use AI?
Only if you want it. AI is off until you turn it on, and you choose where it runs: on your computer (Chrome’s built-in model or a local one like Ollama), or with your own Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini or OpenRouter key. Larksail says exactly what it sends before anything leaves your computer.
