These terms are the agreement between you and [owner or company name], [postal address] (“we”), for using Larksail: the browser extension, the optional account and sync service, and published pages on larksail.com. By using Larksail, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains what data we handle.

The extension

Larksail is free to use. It works on your device, without an account, and keeps your data there. You're responsible for your own data — we recommend turning on automatic backups or exporting now and then. You may not copy, resell or redistribute the extension, or try to break the security of the service.

The extension acts only when you ask it to or when you turn on an automatic feature (suspending, auto-archive, closing duplicates, focus mode). Closed tabs go to the archive and changes can be undone, but please check that a feature behaves as you expect before relying on it.

Accounts and sync

  • An account is optional. You need one only for sync and published pages. Give a real email address you control, and keep your password to yourself.
  • Sync is end-to-end encrypted: your library is encrypted on your devices, and we can't read it. That also means we can't recover it for you. Keep your recovery key somewhere safe; if you lose every device and the recovery key, your synced data can't be decrypted by anyone. Your devices keep their own copies.
  • Sync is a preview: it may change, be interrupted or have bugs. It's not a backup — keep your own.
  • You may delete your account at any time (email us until it's in the app). We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or others at risk.

Published pages

When you publish a collection, you create a public web page at larksail.com/c/… . By publishing, you agree that:

  • You're responsible for what you publish — its title, links, notes and tags — and you have the right to share it.
  • The page is public to anyone with the link. It's unlisted, but links get shared; don't publish anything you need to keep private.
  • You won't publish: anything illegal; malware, phishing or links to them; spam or deceptive content; harassment, threats or hate; other people's private or personal data; or content that infringes someone's copyright or trademark.
  • We may check links with Google Safe Browsing and refuse pages with unsafe links. We may take a page down, without notice, if we believe it breaks these rules or the law; a page taken down can't be published again. We may also limit how often you publish.
  • You keep your rights to what you publish. You give us the permission we need to host and show it on larksail.com until you unpublish it or delete your account.

Reporting a page: use the “Report this page” link at the bottom of any published page, or email hello@larksail.com with the page's address. We review reports and remove pages that break the rules.

Pro

Larksail Pro, when it launches, is billed by our reseller Paddle, who is the merchant of record for the purchase. Paddle's terms apply to the payment; prices, renewal and refunds will be shown before you buy. If Pro ends, your data stays yours and keeps working; Pro-only features stop.

Provided as is

Larksail and the service are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We work hard to never lose a tab, but we can't promise the extension or the service will be error-free or always available.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or time, arising from your use of Larksail. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it (or €50 if you paid nothing). Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law — for example for gross negligence, intent, or your rights as a consumer.

Changes

We may update these terms. The new version will be posted here with a new date; if a change matters for account holders, we'll email them before it takes effect. If you don't agree, stop using the service and delete your account; using it after a change means you accept the new terms.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of [country / state], without taking away the protection of the consumer laws of the country you live in.
